A great team!

We were so excited to join a team sponsored by Children's Emergency Relief International (CERI). This team was superbly organized, as we supported a local church in Coatzacoalcos. They had an ongoing outreach to a community that occupied a place that once was a landfill area.
The streets were dirt. The houses were cinder block and corrugated tin sheets. The people had no running water and limited electricity. The sewage would rise and stand on many parts of the ground. The citizens had many things working against them. But they were hearty and soulful. They showed us how to have fun and smile around others. They had a form of life that was robust. It was actually so much fun to minister to them. We weren't there for long before we realized that we adored them! God had given us a tremendous love for them.

Our clinic was a simple church building. We filled the room with plastic chairs and small tables. We had stations for simple medical checks, a pharmacy, and a place to speak with people who would share the Gospel or pray with the people.

Dawn was able to provide care for many children and adults alike. She is skilled in medicine and nursing, but God also uses her to show the love of Jesus Christ.

Here are some of the houses near our mission site. Most windows and doors were truly open, without door or glass. But they had iron bars to provide some security. The roofs were usually comprised of tin sheets that were secured by nails and perhaps also held down by spare, used tires or blocks.
